John Palter and Kimberly Sims are proud supporters of IGNITE, a national not-for-profit organization, and Palter Stokley Sims PLLC is a corporate sponsor. On February 25, 2017, for his early support of and engagement with IGNITE, Palter will be recognized as an IGNITE Trailblazer at the group’s 5th Annual Conference at Southern Methodist University. Palter has served on the Board of IGNITE Texas, and Sims is a State Council member and co-chair of IGNITE’s Community Outreach.
IGNITE’s mission is to build and nurture political ambition in girls and young women when they are forming their identities and aspirations — typically in high school and college. IGNITE trains young women from high schools, colleges, and universities across the United States, teaching them to think critically about policy and understand where the levers of power to make change actually reside. IGNITE’s participants are passionate about bettering their communities, but may not always understand the role of political leadership in that process. Through its high school curriculum, college engagement, annual conferences and elected women network, IGNITE teaches young women to become civically engaged and ultimately step into public service.
